PADI Open Water Course in Saigon

Dive in Vietnam!

VIETNAM DIVING UPDATE
(Courtesy of Rainbow Divers)

PHU QUOC: High season here with full diveboats traveling alternate days to explore the Northern sites and then the Southern Islands. Early start, 2 dives, lunch and back on land mid afternoon. Viz around 10m, water at 29c and the weather hot, hot, hot!

NHA TRANG: Slowly emerging from the ‘Rainy Season’. Still offering diving and PADI training courses daily. Conditions not the best, but 10m viz does allow you to see the macro critters that Vietnam is famous for! Enquiries to matt@divevietnam.com

WHALE ISLAND: This little piece of paradise is just north of Nha Trang, thus the same diving conditions apply. We welcome Lauren Holmes, our multilingual Instructor, who will now take over managing the diving here for the 2012 season. If you haven’t dived The 3 Kings, you haven’t dived Vietnam! Also, one of the best locations in Vietnam for beach + night diving! Enquiries to lauren@divevietnam.com

CON DAO: Undoubtedly the best diving in Vietnam, when conditions allow. February onwards should allow diving, but later in the year is better. Being so remote, it is very much at the mercy of the weather-gods! Enquiries to max@divevietnam.com

HOI AN: A little early in the season for diving here, but in a month or so, the dive conditions will offer excellent diving + training. Enquiries to ross@divevietnam.com

SAIGON:  The best way to get dive certified is to start on-line with PADI and then spend one day in the pool in An Phu with your Instructor. Then you choose when to travel to one of the Ocean centres for 2-3 days to complete your course. Diving programmes available through the top International Schools. Part time Divemaster + Instructor courses also available. Want a unique Team Building Challenge or even a special Birthday ‘Splash Party’, it’s available! Enquiries to jeremy@divevietnm.com

PADI IDC: The 1st IDC + IE of 2012 will be held in Nha Trang. The 14 day programme starts on the 17th March and an IE immediately after. jeremy@divevietnam.com

Rainbow Divers are the longest established PADI Divecentres throughout Vietnam.

New Celebrity Fitness Trend: Scuba Diving

New Celebrity Fitness Trend: Scuba Diving

Monday, 1/23/2012 at 9:39:32 AM
"Scuba diving provides a full body workout that combines cardio and strength training to burn calories, tone muscles and even improve breathing" says Theresa Kaplan, director of communications for The Professional Association of Diving Instructors(PADI). "Although your body is buoyant underwater and you feel virtually weightless while scuba diving, maneuvering through water requires constant motion by your entire body, thus toning and strengthening muscles in your thighs, shoulders and your core."
In fact, just 30 minutes of scuba diving can burn up to 400 calories for the average woman. Most diving excursions last about 30 to 45 minutes, so depending on the diver’s experience level and the type of dive, it's not uncommon to burn 500+ calories during one workout
One of the best things about scuba diving though  and the reason why so many celebrities enjoy it — is because it doesn't feel like a workout.
"The act of exploring the underwater world and being one amongst a sea of unique creatures and organisms is an exhilarating and life-changing experience unlike no other,"

Kaplan says. "Scuba diving provides a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, which is why so many people, celebrities included, are drawn to this activity."

Happy Lunar New Year
